Location: Las Vegas International Speedway – Las Vegas, Nevada

Event: 2007 World Minis

Role: Created and animated the introduction for the daily video updates from the Vegas World Minis.

The city that never sleeps! Las Vegas could be one of the most beloved, and at the same time, most hated amateur motocross event in the circuit. For 2007, there was great racing, great big sand storms, and less than stellar hotel arrangements (don’t ever book your stay at the Emerald place!). Now that we’ve got that out of the way… Never has my laptop been so red hot as if it were to burst into flames than the two days that I spent in our hotel developing and animating this design. Included in the spot are many of the hotels and the various other places of interest that Las Vegas has to offer. You can spot the MGM Grand, Stratosphere and Hard Rock cafe, all in this introduction. Complete with a little bit of Elvis Presley inspiration and you’ve got something worthy of introducing the 2007 Las Vegas World Minis.

Location: Oak Hill Mx Park – Decatur, Texas

Event: 2007 Oak Hill Amateur National

Role: Created and animated the introduction for the daily video updates from the Oak Hill GNC’s.

Throughout the bumpy, 13+ hour drive to Decatur, Texas, I sat/stood in the back of the 15 foot GK Films box van and designed this comp. Designed entirely in Photoshop; then animated in After Effects. We threw in a little video from each day and called it good. Big thanks goes out to all the Racer X Illustrated crew for posting our videos on Racer X Films, DMXS Radio for always supporting us, and the rest of the Allegiance crew, especially Ricky Krishart. I’d also like to thank my dad, for always supporting me, especially at Oak Hill.

Client: Texas Sunbelt Series (3 Tracks)

Michael Kasberg of Panther Creek Motocross requested that I whip up a plaque design for his Texas Sunbelt Series end-of-the-year awards.  Emphasizing sponsors was one of Micheal’s greatest concerns because he wanted to show as much gratitude as possible to the people who helped him support his facility and racers.  I designed this up in short order with the help of Aaron Remkus from 11k Photos who got this amazing shot.

The motocross track peaks in the center of this comp, surrounded by palm trees and overlooked by the title “Mini Olympics” – complete with the year in the background. I tried to sum up the event and the feeling of being in Florida via a quick, flashy introduction, all the while keeping in mind I had less than a day to finish the design and have it ready for Tuesday’s racing.

Wes Williams and I took to the track for the next four days gathering footage in an effort to put out some of the best daily updates since Lorretta Lynn’s 2005 Mx Sports Center. We made two videos from the Supercross and Motocross finals for internet viewers to watch, viewable on The Prospects Mx website.
