Recently a person whom I’ve been friends with since elementary school decided to stop being friends with me because of my social and political viewpoints. It doesn’t really bother me all that much that we’re no longer friends… what bothers me is how that person came to that conclusion (to no longer be friends). That person did so without even challenging my viewpoint(s) - just completely refused to actually debate me on the issues and viewpoints I hold. No talking things over - facts, statistics - not even saying good bye. Just completely shutting down.
When you remove yourself from the conversation you remove yourself from the solution you “so desperately care about” - meaning, you don’t really care. You’re lazy. Perpetual degradation of your own intellect. Sad.
